Midi interfacing enables any so equipped instruments, regardless of the manufacturer to be easily connected together and used as a sophisticated system. The MIDI interface also permits easy computer control of these complex systems, and a few MIDI instruments plus a suitable computer and interface can provide the user with what is virtually a programmable orchestra.
The main part of this book deals with the "missing link", by providing details of how to interface many popular home computers with MIDI systems. Machines covered include the Amstrad CPC464 and 6128, the CBM 64 and VIC-20, the BBC model B, MTX and MSX machines as well as the Sinclair QL, Spectrum and ZX81. Also covered is interfacing MIDI equipment to analogue and percussion synthesisers.
